There are way too few historical freight trains being run. Great picture!

Great shot!
I have to agree with the caption that a 9f on a light train looks a little odd, but it's still a lovely capture!

British freight trains always seemed cool to me, I suppose its either the rollingstock or the engines.

good photo ^^

Pity they couldn't get a longer train together. Good to see a more realistic look with only 1 brake van though, usually you see demonstration freights sandwiched between 2.

If you got every preserved wagon in the UK together, you still wouldn't have a realistically long train. :p

Nah, you just need about three times this length to get a decent look.

Always loved a good steam freight. :D

Marvelous shot! (The sheep and fence add much. ;) )

Marvellous, I like how the loco, wagons, smoke and semaphore are all sort of interconnected, leading the eye round the photo in a circular motion.

I do need to go there...

Perhaps, it'll depend on money really, no bother about time as there seems to be no extra work coming in for me at the moment, and with my recent change in circumstances again, I'll have a little more freedom. We'll see anyway...

As ever, you're welcome. :)

Are those three axle tank cars I see back there?

The only tank cars I've ever since are either twin axle or twin bogie cars, and these look to be the former of the two. Though of course I could be wrong...

There are such things as three axle tank cars but they tended to be for milk and therefore faster running in passenger trains etc. as it is a perishable. [link]
